Numbering history

How the Numbering Plan Developed

Poland has used closed national dialling for fixed and mobile numbers for many years. The current National Numbering Plan was established by the Minister of Digital Affairs in December 2024 and took effect on 1 January 2025. It retains two-digit geographic numbering-zone indicators and full national-number dialling from both fixed and mobile networks.

Coverage and identity limitation

A numbering-zone indicator identifies an official fixed-network zone rather than an exact address or municipality. Zone boundaries do not necessarily match voivodeship borders. Number portability, call forwarding and VoIP can separate a number from the user’s current location, and ranges beginning with mobile service indicators are non-geographic.
