How the Numbering Plan Developed
Pakistan introduced a revised mobile numbering scheme in April 2008 while retaining ten-digit mobile national numbers. In 2009, Karachi and Lahore fixed-line subscriber numbers expanded from seven to eight digits. The national plan communicated by PTA and published by ITU in 2021 confirms the fixed-line NDC list, trunk prefix 0 and the different length rules for two-, three- and four-digit NDCs.
